Sheryl T. McLean is the President and Creative Director of McLean & Tircuit, specializing in high-end residential, multi-family housing and commercial interior. An interior designer, author and speaker, she is known for her bold, colorful aesthetic with a touch of Creole glam.
Born in New Orleans, raised in California, McLean received her training and education from UCLA’s School of Architecture and Urban Planning. She graduated with a Master’s degree, making her the first Black woman to earn a Master’s Degree in Architecture at UCLA. Her inspiration for design comes from the early part of her life working as an International Flight Attendant; traveling the world while studying different cultural and architectural styles.
McLean freelanced at leading architectural firms in California and Washington DC before founding her own firm in Maryland in 2003. Her aesthetic is influence by the historic Mansions of the French Quarters with intricate iron laced balconies, to the open floor plans of California bungalows and the more formal colonial-style of the East Coast. Her projects range from contemporary residences to a mix of multi-family housing which have included senior living, as well as professional and medical offices.
McLean is an Associate member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and an Allied member of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID).
